A constant state of wanderlust

For as long as I can remember, I have loved to travel. The sense of adventure, the anticipation, the climate change in some cases (because who doesn’t love the sun?) From an early age I have been lucky enough to be taken on some amazing holidays, from Ibiza to Devon to Florida and the thrill I get from visiting different places hasn’t lessened any as I’ve become an adult. It’s only recently that I’ve come to realise that the passion I have for travel runs so deep that it is all consuming. My mum asked me an interesting question a few months ago  – if money was no object, if you won the lottery tomorrow, what would you do. The truth is at first I couldn’t answer her – I felt lost and have done for a while now. After some soul searching and a nudge in the right direction from certain people who have pushed me to my limits lately  (just to clarify, this hasn’t been in a good way!), I realised that my one true passion was travel and it always has been.

Life is a funny thing, really. Sometimes it takes certain moments in time, good or bad (take the wonderful Katy from notwedordead.com) to give us the gumption to take that leap and put ourselves out there. The universe has a funny way of answering our cries for help, but help it does. This is why I decided that my very first blog post should relate to my travel bucket list – and a mighty bucket list it is too, growing with every day.

When I was younger, my mum told me about something my great granddad had once said to her, which was ‘travel is the best form of education’, and he was right. I am happily settled with an amazing husband but I can’t help but feel that there is so much more to life than the daily grind of eat, sleep, work, repeat. It terrifies me to think that one day I’ll wake up, old, frail and unable to go on adventures anymore and just WISH I’d done all the things I’d wanted to do when I was able. Grim, right? Sorry, this was meant to be a happy post haha but before I think about really settling down, possibly having children and all the responsibilities that come with them, I want to travel. I want to travel more than anything.

So my dear readers, I’ve decided to take the travel elements from my bucket list and share with you what I am now calling My Pretty Adventurous Wanderlust List (including the things I’ve ticked off).
